National Railway Museum

Trains are one reason that York gets a lot of visitors. York has always been a major railway centre, and we now have the National Railway Museum here. There are loads of fantastic exhibits, and although I'm not a particular train fan in the way some people are, I do like looking at the steam engines on display. It's amazing how huge they are when you get up to them.

I love this picture. The angle is perfect and the colors are cheerful. My son would love this museum.

I get 'museumed out' just like everyone. But I spent much longer in the NRM than I would in most museums.

It is a very impressive place and it's not just steam locomotives.

Thanks Ruby, you made my day.

My son and my Oh both love it there. They used to go there and I could wander round the shops in peace. Then one day when we were going to move away I decided I really must go, and I loved it! There is so much to see. Great photo too.

I like the NRM too. When my friend told her son that I was getting married in York he said "Cool, we can go to the Railway Museum every day while we're there!" I don't think he was quite so enthusiastic about the thought of sitting through the service!

I'm not a fan of trains either, but this museum sounds like a lot of fun!

Hi Ruby, Nice shot again! I used to take my kids for the special events with Thomas the Tank Engine! My dad wants to go and visit every time he comes here...He's a train enthusiastic. Anyway, it's free and a nice place to be when it's cold and rainy outside...Have a nice weekend. Ciao. Antonella
