York at Night - River Ouse

Here's one I prepared earlier.

I took this shot when I was visiting York last year, before moving here. Whenever I came here - as I did quite often to visit my mother - I always felt quite elated on seeing this view from Skeldergate Bridge, with a really happy yaaay I''m in York feeling.

I'd love to have a riverfront flat here - it's a dream I have. No garden for the kids though - although we could always get a boat, I suppose :-)

Hi Ruby, Beautiful image. I love York by night. I love those yellow light that make everything look a bit spooky...You expect some ghosts come out from the shadows in every corner...Take care. Ciao. Antonella

It does have a beautiful golden tone around this time night. Could be mainland Europe, it's just gorgeous.

Thanks all. Antonella, I've been dreaming about ghosts since I came to live here - for the first time ever! Maybe I'm going to see one!

Isn't it funny how that 'home' feeling doesn't leave you? My dad still lives in the town where I grew up, and the older I get, the more it feels like home. Before I get to his place, I have to drive over a bridge crossing the Rhine, and from the bridge you can see most of the town, including the church spire (which is the second tallest in Holland). I get that same feeling as you do crossing that bridge. I also have it when I wake up on the ferry and see the coastline of Holland. May just have to book myself a outside cabin on the ferry next time we go over...
