1950s Lounge in York Castle Museum
History meets nostalgia in many of the recreated rooms in York's Castle Museum. This is one of them - the 1950s lounge. I could feel quite at home in here.
The antimacasa (is that the right spelling?) on the back of the leather settee takes me right back. The ducks are a bit of a stereotype though. The carpet looks authentic. Leif makes me laugh - a castle is just an Englishman's home - doesn't have to be grand.
I like the duck and recognize them but although I recall the general look of this room it is only a vague similarity to the home of one of my aunts. I noticed the name change, welcome back Christina.

Looks cozy and comfy but not at all what I'd expect to find in a castle! Where are the antiques, armor and thrones?!

Not quite old enough to remember the 50s but I love museums like this that replicate interiors of a bygone age!
I love the shape of the sofas.
