Brown Bowling Green and Bedraggled Flowers
And it's still really stinky. The first time I cycled through Rowntree Park when it was reopened earlier this week, I nearly gipped. Nowhere else along the river that was flooded smells this bad. Bleuuch! Good job the bowling season is over - have you ever seen a green looking like this before?

It looks desolate, a wasteland.
I really hope the flooding stops for few years and gives everyone a break. When the green recovers the grass will probably grow incredibly fast, though!
It does look desolate. Like there's been some sort of big disaster. The park keeper said the green should be fine for next season. They see all this quite regularly here - but it's all new to me!

That is so BROWN! Nowhere near as good as the 'addition' to the bowling green in Abbey Gardens that year....Now where did I put my lighter fluid?!
Gipping! Now I reckon that's a good old Yorkshire word - but I may be wrong?
Patricia, yes York floods very regularly and always has, although the worst floods in recent times were in 2000. York's problem is that it is on very flat land and is surrounded by hills and dales. When it rains up there, it swells the rivers and then it all runs down into York and swamps us!!
Picklesmum, it should be called the bowling brown, not green, lol. Don't think you could burn anything on this one though, too damp to catch alight!!
Bounty, I think gipping's a Yorkshire word too. Otherwise the Suffolkites would have called the River Gipping something else ...!
