Angry Tree on Bishopthorpe Road

This piece of graffiti is on Bishopthorpe Road. Look at the photo below, to put it into context.

Building with whopping great hole in roof. Tree leaning over it in an aggressive stance. Did the tree actually inflict the damage? Or was it another tree, now gone? I really don't know, but one thing's for sure: Tree 1, Building 0!

It was indeed another tree - a huge one that came down in a big storm a couple of years ago and, as you can see, took out pretty much the whole roof of that building. The graffiti makes me smile every time I see it!

From Mel's info, I'm surprised the site hasn't been turned into luxury flats by now. Maybe you could buy it and turn it into your new home.

Hiya Mel, thanks for the info. I'd asked my mum, but she couldn't remember. Saw you the other day, but you looked very busy so I didn't come in - will look out for you again next time I'm passing.

Gail's Man, the thought did cross my mind. *Reaches for Yellow Pages to find a roofer*

This weekend was uncharacteristically busy for this time of year - we usually consider January to be virtually a month off!

That building would make a very sweet little house - I wonder what it was before it was attacked by the tree?

I really don't know what it used to be. I happened to be walking round the building in the rain yesterday (missed bus) and saw a "closed" notice in the window decorated with nice little Christmassy sprig of holly pictures. I also saw the stump of the offending tree next to the builiding, still with the planning order to chop it down stuck on the remainder of the trunk!
