View Through a Window

This is the view through our back bedroom window, taken just now at 5 to 9 am, Southbank, York.

When I lived away, and used to come up and stay here in my mother's house, I used to sit and look at this view and dream of coming back to live here. It is so very Northern, and feels like home for me. Although I can see why it wouldn't appeal to some (I also like mills, and cooling towers :-D).

And having just waxed lyrical about the North, I am now off down South for the day. London is calling, and I have a ticket to ride (how many more song titles can I get in?), leaving shortly and back late this evening. I've just joined a professional association that has about 7 meetings a year there, and today will be the first of those for 2009. I lived and worked in London for about 3 years - it'll be good to be back for a visit.

I like the view over those little backyards and red-brick walls. I think that's so Yorkshire! Hope you'll have a nice day in London. I always find that it's nice to go to London and then come back here! Stepping off the train in York station I already feel I can breath better! Ciao. Antonella

cela ressemble beaucoup aux maisons que l'on trouve dans le nord de la France.

This is very similar to houses that are found in northern France.

I'm amazed at all that red brick! Not common building material here in the Philippines as they're quite expensive.

Have a safe trip, Ruby! How far is York from London?

Love the shot. I miss York.

You are weird loving cooling towers though! They scare the hell out of me.

Olivier, that amazes me - I'd never thought of houses like that in France!

It is so different there from how we live here and how your environment looks and how our environment looks. It is totally different.

This looks like my friends' back garden! (they're in one of the roads off a road off Bootham).

Where in London did you live? I used to live in Brockley (near New Cross, Lewisham etc).

It might be nice to go to London on the train but it'll be right grand to get back to York again.

Jackie - I lived in Friern Barnet in North London, and worked in Kilburn. We were broke all the time we were there but apart from that it was fun!!
