Penthouse Living

At the end of my regular riverside walk into town, I pass these appartments, just before I come up onto Skeldergate Bridge. Look at the penthouse flats on both of them!

For a long time, I have thought of these penthouse flats as my dream home. Imagine the views! Well funnily enough, while browsing houses online, I have noticed that there are appartments in the penthouse suite for sale at the moment - so I don't have to imagine the views any more, I can actually see them: Lookee here!! Click number 5 to see the view - WOW!

£485,000 for a lease on a 2 bed flat though? How bout no! Weirdly enough I almost like the houseboat moored below it just as much. Says she, trying to convince herself ...

The price of such property is ridiculous especially when you think it was once a dingy warehouse.

Eek! That's crazy!

I get penthouse envy every now and then too. But if the river is right below these ones, their view is much better than anything in Manila. Oh wait, maybe except those with views of Manila Bay and its fabulous sunsets.

I'd rather have the houseboat. You can just go — no need to pack :)

I agree - way too much money. The houseboat is an altogether better option!

Personally I wouldn't like to live in a penthouse, no matter how rich I was, or how cheap the flat was. I like living in a house and having a garden. Plus no noisy neighbours.
As well as the high price tag, you have to pay a maintenance fee every year, which can be quite expensive.

Ah, a garden. How I would like one of those! Unfortunately most of the small terraced houses in York (which is probably what I'll be looking at) only have yards. There are good allotments around though ...
